Our Story

​After moving to Winchester from Malaysia, we couldn't find the food we had enjoyed so much in Southeast Asia.

We started trying to perfect the food we miss using family recipes from Penang and Southern China, using the most traditional cooking methods and ingredients.

Most of these recipes require a lot of ingredients and time: making pastes from scratch and all-day braising.

Rather than keep it to ourselves, we thought it would be more rewarding to share the delicious food we know and love with more people.

​​Our dishes are inspired by the diversity of Penang food culture.

A northern state of Malaysia and a key port on a global trading route, people from China, Indonesia, Thailand and India have been settling here and bringing their own ingredients and cooking methods for centuries.

Rich in herbs and spices, the resulting flavours are vibrant, multi-layered and complex.

Sour, spicy and sweet flavours from tamarind, chilli and coconut are followed by floral citrus from lemongrass, galangal and makrut lime.


Freshly ground spices underpin all our dishes, adding depth of character and creating flavours you will crave.
